All our staff are governed by the same rules of confidentiality as the doctors.
The information kept on our computerised records is safeguarded under the “Data Protection Act”.
Occasionally it is necessary for us to share information about you with other health care professionals. This is only done in the best interests of your care.
Information may be used during the training of clinical staff.
You have a right of access to your health records.
We employ a Flexible Career Scheme GP. This is a part-time GP post that provides employment for experienced GPs who wish to work part-time.
Our FCS Doctor has access to our in-house education program and is supported by the GPs in the Practice. Currently our FCS doctor is Dr Sam Watson.
We occasionally have medical students at the practice. Their work is supervised by a GP but they may work with any member of the practice.
Our District nurses and Health visitors may also have students with them.
If you do not wish a student to be present just tell us your and wishes will be respected. We believe this continuous involvement in medical education helps the practice maintain high quality patient care.
Our reception staff are here to help you and are trained to answer non-medical queries. Please remember to inform them of any changes to your name, address and telephone number(s). It is important that our records are kept up to date so that we can contact you quickly when necessary.
Our telephones are always very busy in the morning so please try to ring for results and general enquiries after 2.00pm when it is quieter.
Confidentiality is extremely important both for patients and surgery staff. We do our utmost to maintain the highest possible standards of confidentiality. Patients aged 16 years and over should ring for their own results as we are unable to give them out to a third party.
When contacting us to make an appointment, please try to book ahead as far as possible. If your request is urgent you will be offered an appointment that day although it may not be with your preferred doctor. The receptionist may have to ask you to explain your problem briefly to enable her to direct you to the appropriate clinician and to ensure that enough time has been allocated..
In keeping with the NHS, this practice operates a zero tolerance policy with respect to the protection of its entire staff. This means that anyone who is violent or abusive in any way to any member of staff may be removed from the practice list with immediate effect and without a second chance. Extreme cases will result in offenders being reported to the police.
This applies to all patients and all members of staff, not just the GPs, and includes contact over the phone.
We invite suggestions at any time.
Should you have cause to complain about anything or anyone in the Health Centre then please speak or write to either the Reception or Practice Manager.
We promise to deal with your concerns promptly and courteously.
Patients who are violent, threatening or abusive to any person, whether patient, visitor or any person working in the centre will be removed from the practice list.
